 Gluten-Free Girl

This is  Shauna James Ahern's story.  I picked this book up from a friend and found it to be an easy yet interesting read. Her story is similar to other stories I have been hearing about, celiac and its diagnosis, the trials and tribulations of testing, and its effect on your psyche. However, she tells you up straight how it was, is, and what you can do about it.

At first you think whaaaaat? Then reality sets in, and how do I deal with this now? Who can I talk to about this? What can I eat? Where do I buy X, Y, and Z? What are these items..xanthan gum, guar gum, and what do I do with them? Who do I call for help? Well, help is here.

Shauna shows her passion and zest for living Gluten Free, telling us her story with strong conviction and funny moments. She communicates her experiences from her heart, loaded with information so you can live a fantastic Gluten Free life. She shares recipes that are simple but tasty and inspires you to invent on your own.

If you love food and think that you can’t have your old favorites, think again. She will get you up to speed making healthy and delicious meals. From bread and vegetables, to vinaigrettes, Shauna shares her guilty pleasures with you too. If you don’t believe me, try her Cream of Mushroom Soup on page 215. It's creamy and smooth, and a delight on the tongue, you have to try this. You can even use this soup for other cream based foods like fettuccini, pot pies and other wonderful dishes. If not the soup….the Fig Cookies on page 205 should stab you in the heart with a knife and leave you moaning for more.

You will re-teach your taste buds and introduce a whole new world of tastes that you never knew were out there. Don’t miss out or be left behind. The choice is yours. Probably for the first time in your life you will really TASTE your food, knowing that you have clean, delicious, wholesome food for your palate. You will feel like a new person. Gluten Free too.

Ice Pop Joy

Soon enough it will be that time of year where a pop is on everyones mind. Come on you say! Who doesn't like Ice-Pops? Well, everyone does. Apparently our neighbors dog, TANK,  does too. But these days we want them healthy, inexpensive and easy to make. So you are in the right place.

Anni Daulter's book Ice Pop Joy is filled with delicious mouth watering treats like pure fruit pops, yogurt pops and specialty pops just to name a few. There is a pop for every day of the week you can enjoy. She talks about getting the kids involved making them. Kids are more likely to eat them if they help... especially the veggie pops that you can sneak in under the radar. Create your own to suit your family.

She also has resources to purchase harder to find pop molds. This is not just a fun book to use, the pictures are beautiful, I never knew just how pretty pop's could look! Anni has her on organic baby food company, Bohemian Baby. She is an author, a speaker, a writer and considered a baby food expert. Enjoy all the goodies in this wonderful "Cool" book.

The Gluten Effect

If your digestive tract makes you feel like you have been poisoned, it probably is! Do you know why you feel like you do? It may be as simple as a wheat intolerance.

Dr. Vikki and Richard Petersen of HealthNOW Medical Center in Sunnyvale, California, have been studying a molecule called Gluten. They have helped many people from suffering the effects of gluten in their gut system.

The Gluten Effect is easy to read, loaded with useful information and a great reference book. I love this books straight forward no nonsense approach to understanding Gluten Intolerance. If you know of anyone who has dementia, autism or suffers from depression, psoriasis or even fibromyalgia and celiac, this is the book for you, or your loved ones. They don't know why they don't feel good.

The Gluten Effect  will tell you all about the world of gluten intolerance, how it reacts in your body and why. It also tells us how it affects your brain and nervous system, stress, hormones and autoimmune diseases such as arthritis, diabetes, IBS and memory loss, and so much more. You won't be sorry you purchased this fact filled book, I have highlighted many points in yellow marker for quick reference in mine. It's my go to book for information.
