 Gluten-Free Girl

This is  Shauna James Ahern's story.  I picked this book up from a friend and found it to be an easy yet interesting read. Her story is similar to other stories I have been hearing about, celiac and its diagnosis, the trials and tribulations of testing, and its effect on your psyche. However, she tells you up straight how it was, is, and what you can do about it.

At first you think whaaaaat? Then reality sets in, and how do I deal with this now? Who can I talk to about this? What can I eat? Where do I buy X, Y, and Z? What are these items..xanthan gum, guar gum, and what do I do with them? Who do I call for help? Well, help is here.

Shauna shows her passion and zest for living Gluten Free, telling us her story with strong conviction and funny moments. She communicates her experiences from her heart, loaded with information so you can live a fantastic Gluten Free life. She shares recipes that are simple but tasty and inspires you to invent on your own.

If you love food and think that you can’t have your old favorites, think again. She will get you up to speed making healthy and delicious meals. From bread and vegetables, to vinaigrettes, Shauna shares her guilty pleasures with you too. If you don’t believe me, try her Cream of Mushroom Soup on page 215. It's creamy and smooth, and a delight on the tongue, you have to try this. You can even use this soup for other cream based foods like fettuccini, pot pies and other wonderful dishes. If not the soup….the Fig Cookies on page 205 should stab you in the heart with a knife and leave you moaning for more.

You will re-teach your taste buds and introduce a whole new world of tastes that you never knew were out there. Don’t miss out or be left behind. The choice is yours. Probably for the first time in your life you will really TASTE your food, knowing that you have clean, delicious, wholesome food for your palate. You will feel like a new person. Gluten Free too.
