Mother's Day Spicy Ginger Soda

Mother's Day is coming up! Nobody likes standing in long lines at restaurant's waiting to eat. Then there is the bad service and cranky hungry people to listen to, the cramped quarters too.
Instead, do something really nice for your mum, set out a nice tablecloth with a small bouquet of flowers, whip out the "good" china, and make her Mimosa's or Soda drinks for starters.
Add a delicious quiche or eggs Benedict with a side of Mango's with mint and a sprinkle of coconut sugar or vanilla sugar. Finish with Frangelico coffee. Ahhhhhhhhh

Spicy Ginger Soda

Ingredients:

  •            1 cup sugar
  •            4 tsp. crushed red pepper flakes
  •            1/4 tsp. kosher salt
  •            2 3" pieces fresh ginger, peeled and finely chopped
  •           12 lime wedges
  •           6 cups soda water, divided

Directions:

  1.  Combine sugar, red pepper flakes, salt, ginger, and 2 cups water in a small saucepan.
  2. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to low, and simmer for 15 minutes. Remove pan from heat, cover, and steep for 30 minutes.
  3.  Strain ginger syrup into a jar and chill. Fill a 12-oz. glass with ice cubes.
  4. Add 2 Tbsp. ginger syrup, squeeze a lime wedge into glass, and top with soda water.
  5. Stir to combine. Repeat to make 11 more sodas.
