BBQ Pizza Sauce

Make this ahead and ready to go for Friday night or game night! I store mine in Mason jars. The lids fit tight and are reusable.

  • 4 teaspoons olive oil
  • 2 medium red onions, diced
  • 1 teaspoon crushed garlic
  • 1 2/3 cups (13 fl ounces) ketchup
  • 1/3 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 8 teaspoons brown sugar
  • 4 teaspoons chili powder
  • 4 teaspoons paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne or red pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon ground coriander
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon liquid GF smoke (available from good delicatessens or Tex Mex supply stores)
  1. Heat the olive oil in a saucepan over a medium heat.
  2. Add the onion and garlic; sauté until they are transparent.
  3. Simmer uncovered for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Store the sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator until ready to use.
  5. Use your favorite GF pizza base and toss your favorite left over chicken on top with onions, mushrooms, and olives or whatever your taste-buds desire!
Makes 3 cups.
