DEODORANT

Sick and tired of buying expensive deodorant with all the additives? Make your own, for regular and sensitive skin! The best part...they work. Here are some for you to try. Mix some up and try it on a weekend when your working in the yard (for the big test) or playing a sport etc. I was confident enough to use it at work. And...if it can kill my teenage son's stank...it can yours too. Note though. This is not an antiperspirant. I don't know how that's done. Besides it's natural to sweat. Just don't stink about it. Keeps for about 3 months.

Deodorant II

1/3     Cup melted Coconut oil
2TB   Baking Soda
1/3     Cup arrowroot
2-3?  Few drops of Scent of choice (I like Mint, so refreshing)

Directions:

Mix all together in a blender and place in a clean small container with a tight lid. I use the squat small spice containers from McCormick. they are the perfect size for the bathroom and won't break. Also will fit into an overnight bag easily or a purse. Great for the GYM. Keeps for about 3 months.

Deodorant for SENSITIVE SKIN

3 TB   Melted melted coconut butter or coconut oil (you will have to see how many work for you.
1/3      Cup arrowroot
2 TB   Food grade Diatomaceous Earth
2-3?    Few drops of Scent of choice (I used a couple of drops of Neem oil to keep it fresher longer and Mint for the cooling effect.

Directions:

Mix the 1Tablespoon of melted coconut butter then add the 2 Tablespoons of the coconut oil (melt if you need to) just a few seconds at a time. Pour everything into the blender and mix completely. Or you can hand mix. Place in a clean small container with a tight lid. I use the squat small spice containers from McCormick. they are the perfect size for the bathroom and won't break. Also will fit into an overnight bag easily or a purse. Great for the GYM. Keeps for about 3 months. If you want extra dry add a teaspoon of diatomaceous earth or arrowroot. See what works best for you.

* You can find Diatomaceous Earth at a country feed store. It's fairly inexpensive, $5 bucks for the small bag. You can also use it for other things too, check it out here:  http://www.earthworkshealth.com/human-use.php

and Neem oils and it's uses here:http://www.discoverneem.com/neem-oil.html

Another alternative that works well:

Deodorant for SENSITIVE SKIN II

2 Tablespoons Shea Butter
2T Coconut oil
2 T Cocoa Butter (optional)
2T Bentonite clay
2T Arrowroot Powder
2T Baking Soda (*If your sensitive to soda use less soda and more clay)

5 drops Tea Tree Oil
Enough drops of MINT OIL to feel cool and fresh to your liking
(you can use any scent you like actually)

Melt all butters and oils in 30 second intervals until melted. Add the soda, clay and arrowroot and mix. (I have a tiny blender that I use)
When completely mixed pour into containers (I use small ones) to cool. Cap when cooled.

* I like to use the tiny spice jars from McCormick. I wash and dry them and they store great. Small enough to throw them in your purse and a godsend when you travel.

  1. Oli, it was such a treat to hear from you over on YS. I hope you and your family are well!
I love this notion of homemade deodorant - there's some scary stuff lurking in the commercial varieties.
